TEAM READIES FOR RUGGED SOCRE SAN FELIPE 250
The Strobel Motorsports #94 Trophy Truck team has been working very hard both in the shop and in the desert prepping the race truck for what many consider to be the very roughest off-road desert course in racing. We’ve added a few new pieces of technology and have conducted extensive testing to enable the Jimco chassis to not only survive but in fact thrive in these conditions.
“The guys at the shop have done an incredible job getting this Ford ready to take on the terrain and I know I can’t wait to try out the new areas that SCORE has added to this year’s San Felipe race course” said owner/driver Steve Strobel. “We’re striving for a top 5 finish in San Felipe and that will be a challenge having drawn a 19th position in the starting grid. We’ll work on staying clean early and then pushing the truck some in the last 150 miles and see where the chips fall.” The 249.3-mile race course will utilize two washes that have never before been used for racing – Cuevitas and Amarillas. The course will start and finish at the landmark San Felipe arches and for the first time will also include the infamous washes of Matomi, Azufre, Huatamote and Chanate along with Amarillas before heading to the finish line.
Currently sitting 3rd in overall SCORE Trophy Truck class points, the team fully expects to continue their quest for the SCORE championship in 2012. They are also one of 11 Trophy Truck teams who have completed every race mile to date and certainly want to keep that streak going to continue to accrue points for the push toward the ultimate off-road race, the SCORE Baja 1000 in November.
