Mother Nature turned on a perfect afternoon for off road racing at the Teagle Excavations ARB Pines Enduro as the 62 nominated teams took to the 6km quarry track for the prologue, top 10 shoot out, and dash for cash.
Battles were fierce at the pointy end of the field with Chris Western and Stewy Bishop topping the prologue time sheets. The Mickey Thompson Off Road Rush Truck relegated to second after the running of the top ten shootout with Mark Burrows and Sean Ratcliffe #21 moving from a prologue fourth to first on the start grid; Burrows knocking a staggering 8 seconds off his prologue time.
Jack Rhodes and David Pullio #91 were running on song as they clocked in second for the prologue; the young guns luck running out in the top ten shoot out, the Exact Mining Jimco barrel rolling through a fence. The team are pulling out all the stops to fix the machine ready for tomorrows race start with parts in transit from Adelaide at time of writing.
Andy Brown and Dale Martin #42 rounded out the top ten shoot out podium, shaving 5 seconds off their prologue time to move from fifth to third.
Tasmania’s Scott Rockliff has made the trip across the waters well worth while securing fourth in the top ten shootout, lining up next to Andy Brown on the second row of tomorrow start grid.
Matt Hanson and Leigh Wells will start in 10th after failing to greet the starter for the top ten shootout; the team battling with brake dramas. Danny Brown and George Apted #442 started their prologue but quickly returned to the pits with an engine misfire; the team believe they have now fixed the issue and ready for racing.
Another team with misfire issues was the borrowed car driven by Sandy Bowman. They also believe they are race ready.
The final round of the ARB Australian Off Road Racing Series gets underway at 8:30 tomorrow morning as the team tackle six laps of the infamous forest tracks.
